Should i write a letter to the council

Had to pick my brother up the other day from his house. Down the road from him there is one of those raised junctions. One side of it is way to steep for any car to go down without catching. It has loads of marks on it from where other cars have hit. But i had to drive down it so i went as slowly as possibly but it still caught. So i got out and surveyed the damage. Its put a mack off dent in my middle silencer and its took two big chunks out of my sills. The sils will need repairing since its broken the paint and they will rust like hell. So im v pissed off.
So should i write to the council and claim off them?

Ive took afew pics.

Yeah go for it. You would have been better to put like a CD case in the pics to get an idea of size and scale etc. Bear in mind, in my local council it can take from 6-8 weeks to get a claim sorted out.

Good luck with that.

If they can proove you have lowered your car your fecked

They will then blame the work you have done on the prob...Typical council get out clause

Theyll probably claim your insurance for damaging their stupid road hump/bump thing.

My bro claimed from the council when a pot hole ruined one of his alloys, took loads of pics ike you have, pot hole got filled up and council paid for the wheel to be fixed. Took a while to get it al through tho.

yes but pot holes and alloys have nothing to do with lowering, sadly they wil say that its only lowered cars that will foul on the ramp

as yours is lowered, its unlikely they will even consider giving you the time of day, let alone money

I think its worth chasing TBH. The same thing could maybe happen to a very low (as standard) supercar which would cost 1000s to repair. You could possibly argue that the car was lowered as a result of not being able to get the standard suspension. Its thin but possibly worth a go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that.

lol you stopped and took a picture

go for it dude!

if anything at least it will cost them the time it takes and cost of a stamp to say no in their reply :p

There are a few non lowered cars in that area which have marks on them and afew with cracked side skirts so im going to send a few letters out to residents. Council will pay more attencion if theres loads of people with a wide range of cars complaining.

Measure the height of the bump - guidance says 75mm recommended or 100mm tops I think.

I really dont think that the fact your cars lowered should have anything to do with it. Would a £168,000 Lambo get over them? No, so why discriminate against you for lowering your car. Grrrrrr.

Get that letter written and dont mention the lowering! I doubt theyd know how low was standard anyway! lol

Would a Mclaren F1 or Radical get over most speed ramps? No... Ok thats enough justification to rip them all up is it?

This is the real world which isnt always fair. As soon as they see the car is lowered do you really think for a second they wont drag it out as long as possible and in the end simply tell you to go away.

absolutely no help now, but i find that if you go up these at an angle you should be fine (the chasis is so stiff that corner to corner you should have plenty of clearence).

Still write the letter they get away with knackering our cars with these damn humps far to often.

  don't

ive recently wrote a letter to the council

there was a pot hole getting bigger and bigger, ended up at about a foot wide and almost that deep

i hit it real bad 1 day, u cant avoid it as its on a junction on2 a main road

i said it knocked my alloy centre cap off which then went down a drain, and said that my alloy got scratched up aswell

they wrote back and gave me a claim form, sent it back, 2 weeks ago, not heard from yet
