should my car have passed its mot?

  172
basically had a lambda sensor replaced as it was knackered and as he replaced it with car on ramps he noticed that my handbrake wasnt even bolted down,so it was therefore loose and free moving!!It was "mot'd" when i bought it so i had 12 months but surely it shouldnt have passed?!

cheers

you mean the lever inside the car? i dont think renault actually tighten them from the factory !

the lever is sposed to be bolted down though so it has a point to pivot on,but the whole lot can be lifted up and isnt bolted down

Yeah he made it sound a bit worse than it is though, theres 2 little nuts that hold the lever down, they work loose thats all, bad design they should of use nylock nuts

It should have failed on that point.

It is a failure as you cannot safely operate the handbrake lever mechanism.
