Shrick V Cat cams

  Cup Turbo, Flamer
I've had a search and loads of threads of one or the other but actually comparing them?

I'm minutes away from ordering a set and want to know which ones are the best to get!

The car is a track car and has got other mods, mappable ECU all the usual stuff!

So....pros and cons for each please people!!!

  Cup Turbo, Flamer
Yeah you rate them highly but what are the differences in performance between the 2 etc?

And how long is the wait to these delivered fred, if i ordered monday ;)

  Lionel Richie
its between 7-14days for delivery

i've only had small experience with CAT, Ben's the best peson to speak to RE CAT, he'll tell you there better than Schrick, i'll tell you the opposite!

LOL

lol chalk and cheese

Is there any difference in profile? Any difference in performance gains between the 2?

goo thread, would be interested to know myself when I uprate mine. Any technical reasons and facts as to which girls?

At the moment I'd sway towards CAT purely on price, as I've not seen any data to compare the two

Yeah that's what i thought, good comparing etc

Car is going into mark fish on the 23rd July so need them before that date

to save arguement, generally from what i've seen

CAT - give more torque (into the 180's)

Schrick - give more bhp (just over 200 has been seen with 175)

i'm not sure what warranty comes with CAT, but Schricks have a 12month unlimited mileage warranty

hard facts and data would be nicer, ie something explaining why one is better, make more bhp or torque.

Is there a link to two similar or identical profiled cams to compare lift at TDC etc etc? Way back when, Ben showed me why the CAT's were so much better and more effective than the Kent ones, some data would be nice...

they use differing start lift points for their cam data so its hard to compare direct.

lift/duration graph is the only way, like i said, i'll doctor up a set if fred sends me a pair.

well can we have a dumbed down version of the analysis please Ben? I'd simply like to know what duration they both are, by that I mean the simple figures Kent would provide, ie RN2002's are 260 degress with blah blah blah lift at TDC etc etc? iirc my CAT's in the Williams you said were about 263 duration, but they measured them differently or something so it was hard to say?

The reason I really want to know is when I get a new set of cams (which will be soonish) I'd like to be able to just compare two directly in terms of price and performance and make sure I'm comparing the correct cams. Example would be the cats in the Williams were the equivalent of the Kent RN2002's in terms of profile, but they have more lift etc etc. Something along those lines really...

yea, i can sort it out and put up visual graph comparison so its pretty easy for anybody to spot the difference.

Typically when you compare cams you use the figures starting at 1mm or so lift, this eliminates the ramp area and you can better judge (from a peice of paper) the valve acceleration rates and actual open time off the seat better.
