Side rubbing strips

Some gibbon has scratched mine all the way along, down to the plastic in some places.

I really need to remove them and respray. Are they easy to take off?

easy peasy lad, open the door, door ones slide towards the rear of the car and out and off, rear 3/4 ones slide towards the front of the door, and out and off.

lol jamie....when you said that to me when i was taking mine off for the first time they wouldnt move even a few mm's.....takes quite a bit of pushing if its the first time they are getting taken off sib

also....for the door one....thers a little grommet on the edge of the door at the same height as the strip....take it off and theres like a little plastic pin there thats holding the strip in and stopping it from sliding....release this then push the strip...should come off

There is a little plastic bit locking them on. Just inside the door you can remove a round plastic cap the size of a 2p and shine a torch in and use a small screwdriver to release the catch.

I need to respray my strips on my MK 1 RSi because they have faded in the NE scotland climate. What would I use for this?

I have a can of spray paint for bodywork touching up, is this ok for the rubbing strips or would I need primer and/or sand them down bit?

you will need plastic primer, the paint, and clear laquer! rub down first with some 180 grit wet and dry paper, then 320 grit, prime them rum down again paint, rub with 800 grit then laquer! easy!

plastc primer, normal primer, paint laquer
key the surface spray plastic primer let dry spray on normal primer in light coats
wet flat that back then spray on the paint in thin coats leave to dry then laquer
