sigma lense rechipping

  Trophy #267
Any of you familiar with the process of having to rechip sigma lenses ?
The 70-300 apo i bought in jan has been showing err-99 and sigma cust services tell me its an old lens which strictly isnt compatible with dslr's (only slrs).
They can be rechipped but they dont offer this on older lenses :s
Seems its an issue in brighter light as the iris does not perform correctly.

Im sure they must be able to be done somewhere, failing that i have an expensive paperweight or need to find sum1 looking for a normal slr lense

Yep, pops up occasionally on POTN. I think Sigma are the only people who can do it for you and they wont do it for really old lenses. Where did you buy it from?

I remember seeing something similar to this on the FourThirds forums (Olympus / Leica) There was definately a third party doing it for them.

was a 2nd hand lense from ebay, which had stated er-99 issues but i tested asnd was fine, seems is ok in darker light.
3rd part is good as sum1 must know. tbh i imagine its just an eeprom / mcu update and tempted to get the screwdrivers
