single din to double din

Right, so this is for a Honda crv 2004.

Basically want to put a double din into the crv instead of having the standard single din stereo.

What I'm not sure on is wether all double din systems are the same size and will fit the space.

The crv's with sat nav built in have a double din so I know the space is there for one.

So my question really is, are all double din stereos the same size?

There is space for one, double din as a stereo is a standard size, when looking for fascia check to see if theres a fascia kit (plastic trim cage etc) - some vehicles have slots in the fascia that are exactly double din and the cage that comes with the radio is slightly larger - so if theres a kit go with this - if no one makes a kit (connects2/armour) then most likely the facia with take aftermarket cage.

Have a look at connects2 'installation kits' these come with facias,cage,loom, stalk controls, aerial adapters etc. All in one so may save you some cash


EDIT: (i think) the crv may use brackets to hold stereo in - been ages since i fitted one into this model, iirc they come apart pretty easy tho

Can u put up a photo?, it might be that it doesnt need one, if its an exact double din slot, then basically you remove existing stereo, then use then reuse brackets to secure new one, the only issue is there would be no trim around stereo though as the one that comes with the stereo will clip in using the cage

Depends in the unit you buy. Some have fascias some don't.

Type in eBay; honda CRV double din kit.

And you'll see what I mean.

Yeah, ive seen those kits but none seem to be for the 2004 and in the UK.
Unless its just my ebay app being crap.

Itll be a direct fit - if the cage doesnt fit in the slot, then you will have to use brackets frm factory hu, the gap might not be too bad - but you could try a universal trim if not happy, all youll need it harness or stalk adapter and your good to go [emoji106]
