Sky HD Sound Output HDMI

I've read somewhere that Sky HD only sends stereo sould via HDMI and you still have to use an optical connection through an amp in order to get dolby digital sound?

Can anyone confirm this?

If so, I could have problems as I think my Sony Amp only lets you select 1 Output at a time and my TV only has 1 HDMI in

That's correct. HDMI (the technology) can obviously carry DD5.1 signals BUT the HD box only outputs stereo over it's HDMI output.

Optical, as you've stated, does indeed carry the full DD5.1 signal however.
