Only issue i have had before is the odd freeze but just reboot it and its fine, that happens about once every 2 months. Had the same box for about 12 months now i think.
The box Dad had replaced was just breaking up on certain channels, so still worked.. just movies were unwatchable until they replaced it.
Don't think Sky HD boxes are any more troublesome than the Sky+ box though?
The main issue is with getting a new box is losing everything which has been recorded! Rediculous.. they need to develop a way to transfer the planner stuff to a new box really.
Forums (like Digital Spy) are full of complaints about faulty Sky equipment, however, if you had a box that worked fine and has done so for a long time, would you make an effort to let everyone on a forum know about it, the same way in which you would if it was faulty!?
I wouldn't let people complaining on forums about Sky boxes put you off getting Sky HD - I've had it for about a year and would never get rid of it.......and yes, my box has worked fine ever since I got it!

Weve had ours in the living room for about a year and a bit. Its been fine, A part from the noisy fans.. Sometimes going mad, but they seem to go back to normal after a while.
15-18 months in HD boxes tend to develop a fairly critical issue where they have no signal. Issue is with the power supply, more specifically the capacitors. A couple of them swell up and cause interference and this causes all sorts of issues.
I've been waiting over a month now for SatCure to send me my b*****d power supply.
