Sky Insurance FTW

Superb service.

PM'd Ollie yesterday about getting a quote. He arranged for Luke to call me today. Called exactly when he said he would. Knows what he's talking about, got all my details sorted and offered me a very competitive quote with all the extras I need (Special Admin cover because I'm basically famous and fans might damage my car) and a much better excess than I'd been offered before.

Bish. Bash. Bosh. All paid for. All done. Easy as that.

Work horse is insured with them, no fuss/hassle...forget I'm with them sometimes. That's how you know they're good :D

Wait till you cancel or make changes to the policy. That's when the hassle starts.

There are still the only company I've ever used that took over 6 weeks to issue me a refund.

I have, I've changed cars 3 time with them in under a year and had one accident, doesn't come more changey' than that mate. lol

I've been with them 3 years, changed 4 cars and modified policys mid term numerious times. As well as chnaging cars mid term too!

Never had a issue.

I have no plans to change car or make mods etc.

But they seem perfectly helpful so I don't see why there would be a problem.

I love using sky tbh, never had an issue. I do hate being under 23 though, it's a struggle to insure some cars with them.

Seems you have completely different experiences to me then. I changed car from a 306 GTI 6 to a 1.8 BMW compact and at the same time i changed address. I wanted fully comp when I changed instead of the third party I had on my 6.

The increase they proposed worked out being more expensive than if I cancelled (even though the two months I had the policy ended up costing me £300 and despite the BMW being a much lower insurance group) than if I took out a policy with a normal insurer which is what I did.

They eventually refunded me slightly over half what I paid outright for the year for 2 months cover over 6 weeks after I paid for it.

Might be the choice and changes of car / policy but I've never had this problem elsewhere and 6 weeks to process a refund is a piss take.

As an alternative example I've just switched my insurance off my Clio onto my Girlfriends Mini Cooper S (so swapped car and registered keeper) and admiral did its straight away and gave me a £9.40 refund within 5 days.

Each to their own experiences but I wouldn't use them again.

im with sky and have been the cheapest so far. like revels said in op, if they say they'll call at a certain time, they do.

everytime i add parts to my car i notify them and doesnt go up by much at all. best company ive dealt with on insurance so far so i'll be renewing with them at the end of the month.

Sounds like you got caught out by 'no rwd experience' whicaj can be an issue with specialist brokers.

They are supposed to be specialists? My GTI-6 used to go sideways way more often than the oh so slow compact

Sky were brilliant for me when I had the 172 modded etc. Recommended them to a guy on Bimmerforums and worked for him too.

However when I wanted to insure the 330, it was around £2800! Four times the price for the 172 or an Audi TT 225! And an E36 M3 was £2900.

It's a shame as I really wanted to stay with them as they were incredibly helpful and knowledgeable.

That mental Vish, I swapped the ph1 for a 320 and the price increase was £0.00, oh and a £25 admin fee.

So yeah, it cost me £25 to put the bimmer on their insurance.

Oh :(

Maybe they said something about engine size, I forget now. But more strange because the TT is about the same power. Went with admiral for about £700 instead.

Quick thanks to Luke at Sky insuarance, just insured my clio 172 2002 for £522 TPFT 24/yo 6yrs NCB. Helpful and friendly, unlike some of the other people I spoke to when i was ringing round.

Apparently the company in with (Chauser) are modification friendly..... hmmmmmm ;)
