Yeah, multiroom is great if you are ok with the additional box cost and £12p/m. We've got 3 mini boxes in our house.

I have a sky q mini box in my kitchen and snug. £99 one off fee (per box, we got one free with Sky q) means I can access everything that’s recorded on my main box and watch different stuff to the main telly

Never understood why you would pay £10 a month forever when you can just pay the £99 one off fee and be done

I didn’t think multi room was a thing when you are on the Sky Q subscription? I just thought you had to pay for the mini box hire (£99) and you can add up to 3?

Its £99 per box, but you still pay £12p/m regardless of whether you have 1 mini box or more.

Yes.. or atleast that’s what I did

Aren’t there 2 levels of sky q? Think I have silver which came with the free mini box when I had it installed.. don’t know if they work differently, worth a call/online chat

When Sky Q silver first came out it was supplied with a 2nd mini box subscription free. They’ve since changed the packages hence the monthly charge now.

I ordered my Sky Q at one of those pop up stands at bluewatet shopping centre.

They said that the main box should be £200 and the mini box £100 but they were doing a deal if you signed up there and then they were free. It was just £12 a month extra no matter what package you’re on.

Not sure if it was just sales patter and the boxes are actually free anyway?

I think maybe depends on what deal you already have & what sky person your talking to.
But told me a £25 upfront payment then just £12 a month extra on what i have now.

Yeah I’m sure. We only pay £34 a month, basic package plus multi room. So they were never going to roll out the red carpet.

They're not billing you £12 per month for the multi room, as said above by others, you buy the hardware, the service is free.

The £12 a month is for the upgrade to Sky Q itself.

I'd call them up and check what you were told again...I have no idea why they're charging you a per month fee for the extra boxes...a big major selling point of Sky Q is that you can add extra rooms for no ongoing charges, just the one off hardware and/or setup fee...well it was when we signed up for it anyway.

I might be coming across daft, 3 hours sleep.

When I spoke to the Chap (was Scottish so take into consideration language barrier) I basically asked if I buy sky q at 99 or whatever it is, then that’s it no additional £10/12 per month. He said no, because we have two boxes I will still pay a per month fee.

Unless I misheard or drifted off that was my understanding of the conversation.

According to Sky's website:

£12 a month for Multi room. First mini box one off cost £20, and additional are £99.

If you don't want to pay for multi room do what i done for my kitchen...

Main sky box under the stairs feeds the living room through a hdmi to cat6 converter. The converter (Neet on Amazon) has a hdmi splitter built in. The other hdmi output goes to another cat6 converter which runs to my kitchen. Works great as has infra red sensors etc so the box remains under the stairs but provides both tvs. You have to be watching the same on each though.

Yes one sky q box (main) under my stairs. Cat 6 cable runs from there to the living room and kitchen. For a bedroom though it will be tricky to run a cable up so probably less hassle just to get the multi box, thats what we've done.

Tbh for £34 a month will just stick with what I have/will go wrong/blow the house up/cry.

That's exactly what I plan to do when I mount my tv on the wall. Sky box and bluray under the stairs and all connections hidden behind the tv. Split the signal to the bedroom as well.

I just have a normal sky+ box. Don't see the need to upgrade to Q

Its definitely worth it mate every tv in my house has sky to it but theres not a box or unit in sight, OCD complete haha!
