Sky Wireless Broadband

Is anyone else having issues with Sky BB?

My connection works fine for 30mins or so and then drops out and I have to reset my BB router.
It then works fine again for 15 mins and I have to reset the BB router once again.

This continues all f**king day and I am sick to the back teeth of talking to Sky call centres.

My phone bill this month alone to Sky customer services is £62 for 46 calls:eek:

Apparently I need to use a ethernet cable as Sky cannot fix the problem and refuse to send me another BB router. If I want an engineer to visit it is going to cost me £55:mad:

Does anyone work for Sky or have a number to guaruntee someone who remotely speaks the queens English?

lol i had that. You need to escalate to 3rd level support where they will log into the local exchange and cap the line at a lower bandwidth.

Chances are that you're getting errors on the line which are gradually clogging it up to the point where it just doesn't send /receive any data.

I had the same thing, ended up ringing them about 20 times with no success. When i got code from threatening to leave, the problems completely vanished!

I would consider buying an ethernet cable and testing via a wired solution.

I feel your pain brother...

You attempted to go through the channels?

802.11g has a very short range with those netgear routers. So avoid using G only, set it to Auto.
Try using 802.11b on your pc's network card. and cycling the channels.

Cheers mate, its just as you explained.

I am using Vista Ultimate and in the network centre it is still showing that I have a connection to the Sky router and the internet yet pages are not displayed and all I get is 'page cannot be displayed'

Wired works fine, but the router is downstairs and I dont want to pull up the flooring to hardwire a cable into a wiresless router lol

Sky's CS told me to move my PC down stairs nearer the Router...............I dont want my PC downstairs FFS ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I wouldnt mind so much if the customer service mugs new what they was doing.
I was on the phone for 35 mins last night to a philipeano (bearing in mind I am having the problems on my desktop pc) when the bint asked me if it was a laptop I using..............she had already asked me this 3 times

After 55mins I got told that its my wireless network card and that they do not support Belkin cards so she hung up, .......................I was fuming at this point

If you think its a problem with the router, just unplug it from the power, phone sky and tell them its busted (not powering on). They will send you a new one

I'm not 100% sure it is the router, have read on other forums about security issues............something to do with Sky BB router using WPA-PSK

I never had any problems with mine. You can change the encryption type or turn it off all together as a test.
