As a few people know I have been going on about doing a conversion on my car for a while now. Either that or buying a new car.
Now before I start I am gathering info so I can add up prices on the conversion and a different car, therefore buying a 172/182 is not what I am after.
Anyway, I have the car looking as I want it;
Few things left to do are;
Clear side repeaters.
French sytle plates.
and maybe white mirror caps and white badges.
Now, the conversion kit comes with the 172 engine, looms, gearbox,ecu, subframe, brakes, suspension etc. Leaving the engine pretty standard at first till I decide on if i should just do breather mods, cams route or the whole 9 yards and go with ITB's.
So looking for info on the following;
Exhaust options,
Filter,
Suspension set up,
and brakes.
Exhaust- I like the look of the gdi cut in one and the pro speed. Obv would prefer off the shelf so I can order it straight in. Looking for something quiet under normal driving, getting louder when booting it but still able to hear induction noise. Opinions....
Filter- love the noise of open cones but obviously not good for performance. So any info on the best of both worlds? enclosed but still noisy. Simota? BMC? only one i would not consider is a viper.
Suspension- now this is where it gets tricky. If i bought a suspension set up to go on the car, how much less would I have to pay for the conversion kit from MATT BLACK? excluding the suspension if you know what I mean. Anway, would prefer to keep away from coilovers due to ride issues but would still like a good 40mm or more drop. Are there any good springs and dampers suitable. If not, what are good value for money coilovers? nothing to brake the bank like LEDA's.
Brakes- looking for a good value for money setup. Cant justify the money for 4pots as I will not be hammering the brakes. Are there any good setups where you can buy discs, pads and lines etc as a kit?
And finally, as the new engine will be out of a car, it will be the best time to service it. Standard cambelt replacement, what oil and spark plugs etc would you reccomend? Also standard clutch ok?
All info welcome,
Cheers
