i remember when i first started it after adding it to the oil. it started then the revs dropped suddendly for a few secs and then went back to normal. you reckon that was it going thru the oil filter?
Slick 50 contains solid particles of PTFE, now PTFE may be a very good low friction thing, but oil should NOT contain any solid particles, and if it does, these will simply clog in the filter and maybe other places around the engine
Oil has got all the aditives you need in it so why add more and cause problems. Massive companies like shell etc dont invest millions into oil research just so some two bit company who make slick 50 can better their oil technology do they ?
Ive been using Slick 50 engine and gearbox treatment for quite a few years on various performance cars (including my current Clios) and have never had any problems. Try using the gearbox treatment in your 172 gearbox .... youll be surprised how much better the gearchange is after a few haundred miles! The solid particles that are talked about are probably too small to get trapped in a standard oil filter anyway, otherwise the product would never circulate through the engine and smooth out the humps and bumps.
