Slight leak head gasket! Advice please guys!

  Renault Clio 06
Had mot and service done only few weeks ago, he said I’ve got slight leak front head gasket, oil was never leaking onto the road under my car, seems like now though it is, not Excessive just slightly. I’m not good with cars so was wondering if anyone could give me any advice, if it’s worth getting fixed if there’s any Solutions, how much would cost to replace? I’m sure the Mechanic told me wasn’t worth replacing with the car to always keep an eye on my oil level

I’d take it for a second opinion. Preferably To someone who knows these cars properly.
The ‘mechanic’ you’ve taken it to sounds like a tyre fitter are Kwik Fit.

Where are you based?

Anywhere you could recommend? Middlesbrough. I’ve heard head gasket not expensive but the job big one so labour charge would be ridiculous

What car is it?

I would clean the engine with degreaser and then see where it is leaking from. It might just be the cam cover gasket leaking (as these seem to go more often than Head Gaskets).

The cost usually comes from doing your timing belt which needs to come off to get to it.

I’ve got Renault Clio 06. I got it serviced about 3 weeks ago along with its mot, says on the service sheet it’s got slight leak from head gasket but it’s not Excessive. So I’m not sure what I’m best doing specially during this Pandemic

Renault Clio what? 1.2? 1.5 dci? 2.0? 3.0?

Head gaskets don’t leak oil. And if they did you’d know about it.

You need to take it for a second opinion. Take it somewhere that knows about Renault’s as well, not just A Generic Barry Bolt-on Car repairs place.

Ben at VTEC Direct in Winsford is a good mechanic, and he knows his way around Renaultsport Clios too, as does Donald at Grinspeed in Leyland. I'm sure there are plenty of independent decent Renault garages in the North East.

It's probably just a leak but if it's cracked, it may need compression tested. A good garage will be able to check that in about ten minutes for you.

Yes we know it's a 2006 Clio!

That could be a MK2 or MK3. Or it could be an early 197, could be a MK2 1.2 campus.

What the hell is it?

Can you not read Daniel f**king hell.
Thanks for the patronising response Jonathan Dinlo.

However, nowhere in this thread have you mentioned what clio you have. There are many types of clio, many many types.

So at the risk of repeating myself, and god only knows why I’m still Persuing this line of enquiry with someone that is clearly being difficult for the sake of it, WHAT MODEL CLIO DO YOU OWN?

I managed to trace down OP’s previous forum/website history across the full range of the internet and I can conclude that the model Clio he has is in between the 2005 and 2007 one.

Out of interest though, anyone know what it could be? No one has mentioned rocker cover yet so can’t be that, must be head gasket.

I don't think the problem on this 2006(?) Clio is actually the head gasket. As the head gasket on a 2006(?) Clio isn't a common issue.

I think it's a problem with the connection between the seat and the steering wheel...

I heard that head gasket failure was a big issue on 06 clios, that 06 engine is shocking
