slow computer when been on for ages

Car  535d / t5 caravelle
how come if my computer has been on for ages it goes really really slow, but if i restart it, it goes back to usual speed? is this normal?

It's called RAM, it's rovatile memory which means it gets wiped when you restart your machine making things quicker.

That should say 'volatile' memory, god knows where that came from!

So AMD's do not slow down after awhile on the comp, i have a intel and i hardly notice it, only if i play a game then start doing something else once i have finished.

Question or statement?

I get no slow down at all with anything...Then again ive got a dual core system takes a little more to bog it down.

PCs what weird things these are. I think it is a glitch in the windows programe, so bill gates has a lot to answer too LOL

Windows does need resetting every so often as things get dumped in the ram and not cleared properly.

Like most windows computers generally need to be formatted once a year to keep them running well due to files bloating up.

You sure it's not just some process that should have ended that hasn't?

When it slows down again do CTRL ALT DEL and take a look.

Firefox can be gay sometimes and not close after you exit. If you have firefox and it's running and it's using a stupid amount of memory just close it and re-open it.

Also check for scheduled stuff, you may have a background antivirus scan running or 10 programs updating at the same time or something daft.

I've not had any slow down issues with XP and I've left that for weeks without rebooting whilst using it for everyday stuff - internet, email, games etc.
