Just wondered if anyone else had noticed a lack of power in the hot weather? Mine has been noticibly slower today, I was surpise how much difference a reletively slight increase in air temperature made......gonna have to get me an inductrion kit to make up for it I think
I have noticed that when its really cold it seems to go a little quicker. Not really booted my car in the hot weather yet.
I had it RRd twice in 2 days. One day was 6/7 degrees C, and the other was 12/13 degrees C, and there was a 2bhp difference. Not much I know, but considering when its really cold it 1 or 2 degrees and when its really hot its close to 30, thats a fair few horses!
common knowledge. The colder air is more dense so increases power. an induction kit will only make it worse. unless it is sealed and has a cold air feed.
my gtturbo used to be affected loads by temps, used to love very cold dry sping mornings, lovely dense air and nice an cool for the intercooler, used to go like a missile compared to a hot humid sunny day
Swapped my interior at bens a while back. He has a squeaky power steering pump belt, now mine has it. Coincedence, think not I wondered why ben went under the bonnet to fit my seats???????
Still he is changing it for a pacjaet of Hob nobs and a shandy as long as I drive as he cant handle his drink!!
but i do have a cup with a swirly straw and a water wheel inside it for my chocolate milk....but i have to drink it with a towel over my lap when watching boobahs.
its funny you should mention that cause I was just thinking that today as I went for a blast.
The car wasnt slow by any means .. but there was a deffinate difference, I though it might be because I had to put super in instead of the usual optimax.
can i get an autograph, she keeps falling down on me and making squelchy noises..........then gets up, falls down, up down up down.........then something funny happens and i fall asleep.
Yeah my car is a bit slower on hot days, due to the fact I have the air con usually. Had a quick blast with a 3.0 Z3 from standstill, and he did put about 2 car lenghts ahead by the time we reached 100. Must make a mental note to switch off the air con when ragging it.
In airplanes you always have to take the power loss into account. Not only does the temperature and altitude affect it but also the air is thinner and generates less lift at higher elevations and temperatures. Just what you dont need... requiring a higher takeoff speed.
As all this needs to be figured in so that you can safely take off, the information is freely available for every plane.
It would be nice to see owners manuals with the relevant information as to the effects of temperature and elevation on a cars perfromance.
