small scratch help

  182

Some kind shopper left a scratch on the rear panel of my black 182. Has anyone used the scratch stick, or is a better bet to get one of the franchise body repair people to have a look. They seem to do small jobs a lot cheaper than a garage.

yeh dent people are a good idea, but try touching it up, use a coctail stick instead of the brush, apply the paint, then apply the gloss, leaving it slightly proud, then but it back with t-cup, if dont properly you will never see it

sorry 2 but in, thought id say. dont use t-cut on a laqured paint, the t-cut contains ammonia wich destroyes laquer, especially if the layer has been damaged. try layer polishing first, time consuming pain in the arse but could save you a fortune!

^^dont worry you can use t cut on your paint or scratch x etc,it wont damage your paint, i personally would use something like clearkote hand glaze, but i suggested t cut because everyone knows it

benji&eka most cars are laquered so what do you mean.

most cars are, but modern manufactures use synthetic paint and laquer tending to steer away from 2 pac base and laquer on all but mettalics, synthetic does not react well to ammonia, best to test a small area you dont see first and see if the paint goes cloudy (a sign of reaction). clearkote hand glaze does contain ammonia agents but very much diluted and doesnt do any damage, t-cut is nearly pure ammonia (hence the dodgy smell). t-cut is best used on cellulose paint, only usually used on classic cars. i would reccomend clearkote or auto smart mirror image

I have just had a scratch on mine repaired by http://www.chipsaway.co.uk/Chips Away and can say the guy who did mine has done an excellent job. If you are in N/West let me know and I can give you the guys number, otherwise goto their website and leave your details, they will contact you. Only do this if the advice above doesnt work though.
