Smell of fuel when in neutral why

For some reason when my car is sat in neutral with the engine on you can smell fuel inside the car but when I am moving again you can no longer smell it! Whats going on?

maybe when youre moving, youve left the fumes behind.. if you are stationary, the fumes will just linger around the car?

Seems that way just checked the drive way and I have dropped some fuel as well, so must be a split fuel line or something, now I just need to find a decent garage, I have only just moved to the area and I hate trying to find a decent garage!
