Smoke!

  Clio 200
This may be a stupid question (I hope it is!) but when accelerating hard past 5k revs there is alot of white smoke pouring out of the exhaust, it looks the same as the smoke you get from the exhaust on a cold morning. Can anybody help?

Is it white or grey? If white it is because the car cold and it could be steam from the condensation. This happens on mine, if i go for a blast on the motorway. The rear window gets wet as well. If it grey it could be head gasket i think.

Yeah it is condensation like, dont use the car alot so hoping its a build up of water in the exhaust! If it sticks to the back window then its like water & not dirty.

Thanks Lee, was starting to s**t myself! The journeys you make sound just like mine so dont get a chance to 'boot' it much!

Best bet dip the oil and take a look to see if there is any water in there. If the head has gone it will go a white gunk.

OK, spoken to a couple of people at Renault and both said the same thing. If the car isnt regularly 'booted in' there can be some smoke like water vapour from the exhaust!
