surprised you have Dejan on that list! Hes a VERY good amateur photographer, Ive seen a lot of his work, and chat to him quite a bit on another forum.

Thats it for now :)

No doubt that these guys have talent and the pics are awesome but I can't help feeling they look great because of the car.

Taking a pic of a Ferrari and making it look good isn't that hard really.. Obviously they take it to the next level but it's not like its an awesome pic of a Focus.

agreed mate its all about opportunities, and if you look two identical pic using the same techniques such as two rig shots, in the same location, same filters, same post production work etc but one good car and one bad one the 'best' shot will always seem to be that of the nice car.
one of the hardest things is getting access to shoot a variety of cars

Yeh, my post sounds b**chy and I didn't intend it like that.

These guys have a real talent but maybe the cars just add to that a bit..

Like you say, its opportunity. I'd love the chance to shoot Ferraris etc. Theres a guy near me with a 430, next time I see him I'm going to ask if I can take some pics of it

likewise when i get some spare time after my dissertation and course work is in i need to take up my next door neighbours offer as he works for aston martin so often brings home various cars (db9, dbs, v8 vantage etc) and offered to take me out in some of them

Wish you lot didn't live down south, I'd love to meet up at some point. I'm stuck taking photos of my Clio at the moment, and average ones at that! Have to agree though, Dejan's work is excellent; just looking through the rest now.

If it's actually around the subject, then its probably some sort of vignetting effect. Grad filter effects can be easily replicated in PS too, I know because I use them sometimes ;)

Lol, you're not the only one! Trying to stop myself from doing it so much now.

If the dark effect is coming in from the corners of the image it'll be a vignette. If it's around the edges of the subject then they've probably upped the clarity or increased the dynamic contrast or whatever it's called in the Picnik/Flickr editor. If in general there's a dark area where you'd expect it to be more exposed it's probably a gradient filter.
