Exactamundo! That's what insurance is for. When my Cup got grazed by my neighbour back in March, her insurance company told me to get quotes from various garages and choose one.

Shame I got a 56 plate 1.6 Arstra as a courtesy car, though....

if you go outside the insurance it always works out better for everyone, means your premiums wont go up (and they nearly always do even if it isnt your fault!) and it means you dont have to mess about putting car back to standard.
Second hand doors can be picked up fairly easily, a few about on ebay like this one

I know mate, i was ready for a full blown fall out but the guy admitted it straight away & kept saying he was so sorry... does'nt bring back a door though

The repair i had done on my car was crap tbh, all the paints cracked and the headlight they put in is the wrong colour (1 black 1 grey)

Yeah I'd make sure you get money off him before having any work done, otherwise if he says do it via insurance afterwards, then you might not get paid for it.

I'd switch the insurance to the ph1 while its getting fixed, no point him paying for a slow courtesy car.

Up-date... or maybe should be called down-date



Spoken to the guy, he now wants to go through insurance as he's been told his premium will only go up 20% next year which he said is only £80.. Surely though it would be put up for the next 3-4 years?

Anyway, he's still happy to admit he's at fault, so where do i go from here??? I'm with Bell & he's with tesco if that makes any diffrence.. so i take it i get a claim form from bell or some thing do i? then what do i do about not having a car & who do i go to too fix it?

You should ring your insurer as soon as reasonably possibly and they will guide you from there.
