ok in may o2 i bought a clio 1.2 16v dynamic at the age of 19 and now im old enough and the insurance is cheeper i want a 172 sport or cup, i got a quote for a 172, 1200 fully comp which aint bad, i can afford that, its just that i have my car on finance and i want to get out of the agrement so i can buy another one, i put down 1500 deposit on my 1.2 and ive paid 22 instalments of 173 odd quid which comes to about 5200, now 2 years later including all the fees, repayments and finance i still owe them about 5k. i know i can get another can after 3 years but i cant wait that long, thats 1 more year driving a 1.2, im not sl*gging them off i just want a faster car, now how can i approach the dealer and change my car for a second hand 172 as i cant afford a 182! please help people

so you want a 172 and youve got no money?

You need to work harder and save up those pennies young man!!!

And then just maybe youll have the cash to buy a 182 outright in a couple of years time!

:D

i can afford it, its just that im in a contract with my 1.2 16v which literally sucks! if there is a second hand 172 on the court is there any way i can swap it and pay a bit more every month?

Ok so you want a 172 but you have very little colateral on your car if any.

Best idea is to go decide how much your willing to spend if you want a new 172 (cheaper than a new 182) then Renault dealers should be able to do you a good deal. However if you want a second hand one then your probably best knocking them down as much aspossible for a cash only deal then getting a loan out in your own name over 3yrs etc.

Your own car as colateral isnt worth that much maybe £500 although if your buying an overpriced car and you want to get rid of your car they may offer you more.

Your looking at quite a bit for a used 172 as you wont be able to get a finance deal like you have at present ie one where you only pay the depreciation on the car. So you will need to get a loan for the whole amount (well almost the whole amount) this will cost you about £290/month for a 10k car but after 3yrs you will own the car and be in a better position to buy another car as you will have some money as a deposit.

Have you looked into getting a secoind car ie a 16V or Williams. You could get a loan for much less and run your car as a cheap daily comute and the other car as the weekend fun thing. Depreciation on an older car will be less than owning a 172.
