Sound System Upgrade...

hi peeps!, bin reading the forums for a while and finally have a few questions so signed up so i did!

anyway, i was fed up with the stock cassette deck and speakers in my S-Reg 1.2 clio (waiting for my 2 years ncb till i order my 182 :D) - anyway, i bought a Pioneer 77MP which im very happy with, and also got some Pioneer E-Motion 1396 13" coax speakers...

now the sound quality is definately better than it used to be but it still aint particulartly good - im not bothered about mind blowing bass or whatever but i would like to be able to turn it up a bit and get some good crisp sound.

i realise i should probably have bought some components but getting the whole dash off to put the tweets in seemed like a right pain in the ass (wish i had of done now tho) but anyway, i figure if i stick an amp in it is gonna really improve the sound so my questions are:

- should i get an amp?
- if so could you recommend one?
- how and where the hell to i fit it (i do not have the slightest clue about ICE as it stands)

thanks to anyone who helps me out :)

If you are interested in an amp, ive got a 900w 4ch amp for sale, which would be good for powering all your interior speakers, or your fronts and a sub if you decided to upgrade. An amp is always going to help if you are under powering your speakers off your headunit

900W!!! - the ones i was looking at were like 300 and 400...

isnt 900W for real power enthusiasts? - i only have 2 full-range and thats it (i know i know) - just wanna get the best out of them really...

It works out to 225w per channel which isnt that much (these are max figures as I dont know the rms). I used it to power a jl audio sub and pair of 6x9s (6x9s are also for sale). But its no good if you are only looking at powering 2 speakers.

a small pioneer, kenwood or ideally alpine 4x75 or 100 watt is what i would recommend. (4 chans are harder to fit though)

if it was mine, i would have an amp and small sub.. (takes 30 mins to install when you know how) which is infact what ill be doing when i eventually get my arse into gear ;) and chose what i want (got a kicker solo 15 and zr1200 amp in loft, not using, but too big) i always found having a sub, allowed you to turn the bass down to the normal speakers, which would allow you to turn them up higher without so much distortion. but obviously youd lose boot space.

you could install the 4 chan amp under the passenger seat or maybe in the boot to the back seat. lots of leads to run back to the front, which is why id prefer the underseat placement.

as you have no ice knowledge i really would recommend a trip down to your local ice specialist, and try to talk to the fitters (they know the most) and not to the halfords sales geeks ;) (sorry if anyone here is one :D)
