SPACERS??? HELP

Hi,

Just a quick question.

Can someone tell me what wheel spacers acutally do?

I know that i sound dull but hey!

All help appreciated.

bring the wheel further away from the shock and suspension components, and at the same time bring them further to the edge of the bodywork making the arch look like its fuller

I put some big 1,1/2 inch spacers on my mk2 ph2, It looked well nice,
but had a few probs cos the wheels rubbed on the arches, its been lowered 40mm but i havent uprated the dampeners yet! or could get the arches rolled (maybe a bit drastic) The look it gives is awsome!
