Spacers or wider tyres?

I was wanting to give my car a wider stance but am not sure what to do.
I've been told Spacers will look better but may suffer due to the bolts an hub centre.
Where as tyres will give better grip, i'm running 195/45 16's currently and have been told to try 205/45 16??
Thanks for any help you can offer.

how about both

i run 25mm spacers on the front and 10mm spacers on the rear, but i have converted from bolts to studs and nuts - safer!

and i also run 205 45 16 tyres, ride and grip are improved with both modifications :D

curious to know what would be the excuse for renault not making the cars like this straight from the factory if it rides better (I'm not being sarcastic! just curious)

an extra 10 mm for example won't do that harm I guess though. 25 mm on each side... I don't know
