Spare rims for track day use - advice please?

  Clio 182
I have recently changed tyres on my Clio but the back ones still had enough tread on them to be used at a track day. I need to get some rims to put them on but don't know where to start. The tyres are the standard 205 45 16 size for a clio 182. Do I just look for some 16" steels with the same number of bolt holes? Or am I looking at a big bill for some alloys that I will only use twice a year?

Steelies will be far too heavy for track use. What tyres are they? Chances are they are not worth keeping for track.

Michelin pilot exaltos that were standard fit. Stillgot plenty of tread left so planning on getting at least a couple of track days out of them. Have put Toyo T1Rs all round for normal road use.

sell/bin the tyres you have, get some mk1 clio 16v wheels (mine cost me £50) and stick some tyres on those. theyre supposedly very strong wheels and not massively heavy

Do you want to do trackdays just to use the tyres up ir do you want to be doing track days anyway. If you do, I would recommend you get a cheap pair of lightweight alloys and use R888's, if you want to do it properly.

T1R's are awful for track use, there is too much block movement due to the tread pattern, and wear out very fast.

Got a set of lightweight team dynamics in 16's for sale? No tyres. Came off my 2003 172 cup. Yours for 120

Get a set of OZ F1's/Clovers etc cheap in 15" IMO. Cheaper tires if all you want to do it hoon and destroy them on track.
