Spare Wheel Cradle - Quick Answer Needed

Is there anyway to remove the Mk1 spare wheel cradle without cutting?

yes-just undo the bolt (from the boot) holding the cradle up, Take out the wheel, and the metal frame just lifts/clips out!

It just hooks on near the rear beam.

Ok not sure if I've understood this correctly.

I've got to the stage where I can unclip the back end of the cradle (if there was a spare wheel there I could get it out).

But the 2 hooks by the rear axle, I can't twist them to unhook the whole cradle.

It's easy to get out......

jack it up higher or use ramps maybe so the car is higher allowing the cradle to swing lower till the hooks un-hook. Maybe find a mate with a pit?
