Spare Wheel

Does everyone have one?

Just bought my new 17"s and realised that I am carry 15" of dead weight in the boot still!! lol

Yeah but if this stuff is used doesnt it ruin the tyres completly unlike carrying a spare, getting it repaired etc?

Anyway, does loosing the spare make a difference?

No it doesnt you just clean out the mousse, repair the puncture and away you go...

Its only because lazy feckers at places like ATS cant be @rsed to clean it out!

Yeah, average is about 16kg but depends on the wheel/tyre in question.

extra weight in the boot is meant to be better for handling isnt it? i havent really tested it, but thats what my dad does.

Just get RAC membership and then you dont have to worry about anything. Call them out for all those little jobs that you dont want to pay for labour for (new accelerator cables, changing leads). I know someone who even called them out to fill his wash bottle cos he didnt have any solution and was in the house anyway. They turned up, filled it up free of charge and toddled off. I always use the RAC when i need a new battery. Call them to my house, they do it for free and the batteries are reasonable too. No hassle. I would never change a tyre with RAC membership.

Yeah im with the RAC too - decent service they offer.

I took my spare wheel out last weekend - took the cage out too. Didnt feel any different but having said that im still getting used to the car. As alot of people say its dead weight which you can do with out. Tyre foam / RAC is the easy answer.

im tempted to rip out the rear seats now.... hmm

Hi April, your spare is still ok for your 17s..the difference is a matter of mm so as long as you dont cane it about youll be fine. Otherwise do what i have done, sealed the tyres for £80..im guaranteed not to get a puncture and i dont have to pump my tyres up again..
