Spark Plug Question

  clio 182 black /gold
This is a strange one but can spark plugs go rusty? I have had the garage on the phone and they said someone has changed one plug but the other 3 are rusty. I thought plugs are not due till 72K or 5 years. The first two services was done by Renault and i had a intrim service for the MOT. This was done in Feb. I wonder if they have tried to change them and ruind them. What orginal plugs should be in when the car is new?

lol rusty???? not on any part that would matter. I'd change them well before 72k personally, I've always thought that was an aweful idea.

I have always wondered how can a spark plug last so long. What make of plug did they put in when they was new?

Maybe some water got down the plug holes.

I changed mine at 52k and they were well shagged. As James said they cleared up all sorts of little idle and starting issues

Yes i did I was charged £10 a plug from the firm in Haslingden. I will post pictures tommorow. The guy said Renaults are renound for water damage which would also damage the plug leads too. I hav been looking at cars since 1999 and never ever seen anything like it.

My 182 on 20k something developed a misfire and water damage to the plugs or a plug was the cause. One of the plugs was so rusted I was completely shocked by this for such low mileage ended paying £250 approx to change all plugs and leads, was not impressed!
