Spark plug removal help



  2002 clio 1.2 16v
Hi guys, hope you don't mind taking time out of your day to answer this question for me as I would really appreciate it.

can i use a normal 14mm socket to remove my spark plug's cause i've been told i need a 8mm spark plug socket

1.2 Clio? If so yes you can use a 14mm socket but will need to be a deep one and slim walled, use a bit of fuel hose down the tube to pull the plug up once undone if you don't have a magnet

Be careful using a normal socket with no rubber insert, make sure you dont lever over the plug when undoing it, its hard to explain but try and keep the socket, extension and ratchet head all in line with the plug because you can break the ceramic insulation on the plug if they are fairly tight

Seen this done all too many times in college.

If you aint got a magnet to retrieve the plug you can just re-insert the coil lead and then remove with the plug intact.

A normal 14mm socket cannot be used but a deep one can. However, for how much they cost I would simply get a spark plug socket to save on the hassle.
