spark plugs/misfire again

i have been having a misfire problem with my 172 on inspection of the plugs these are what i found. i have been a mechanic for 9 years now and never heard of these.
i was on the phone to my supplier straight away and got the ngk plugs, fit theseplugs today and misfire was no better what so eva.
so on monday iam getting a new coil pack from renault.

does any body know the average price of the coil pack from dealers as i have never dealt much with renaults and so far everything seems to be expensive?
thanks in advance for any advice on the misfire aswell

I have a used coilpack for cheap if you would like, also got some used ngk plugs that are used. Pm me if interested.

cheers for the offer dblock but got a new one yesterday as jezcharger sed £58+
still not cured problem
phoned renault and they sed to put it on there machine would be a full day just to tell me whats wrong so at a bit of a dead end at the moment!!!!

No problem mate, Did it come wit the HT leads? Are they deffo the right ngk p6 something or others? You probably know more than me anyway just trying to help :cool:

yep put the ngk plugs in before i did the coil pack, no the coil pack didnt come with the ht leads i did price them but they are around the £50 +vat mark which i cant really afford if its not going to fix it.
just tried the dash light indicator stalk trick thingy(lol) and it came up with an injector fault, again not going to buy 4 new injectors if they aint going to solve the problem.
think a match and a gallon of petrol!!!!! :S

Try a multi meter on the ht leads?

is it just a case of the probes at either end of the lead and see the resistance? if so i will do it tomoro after buying a multimeter....
cant wait to get it sorted as all i want to do is drive it properly again now the weather is dry

i will find out tomoro see if i can work it out how to test the leads if not im gunna get it on a diag tester of some description

It's your injectors mate, I had same problem and found one dead injector i then got the rest cleaned and tested.

disconnect the injector plugs one by one, if it dies a bit then that injector is ok if there's no change then thats the knackered one.

brilliant i will try that tomoro, i have had the injectors out and tested the spray onto a piece of card and got good spray patterns if that would make a difference?

Do the test and then check the wires in the loom also maybe a broken wire if the injectors are spraying good. My car started miss firing only at higher revs but then did it all the time. Could maybe the crank sensor/wires too worth checking anyway

I seem to have a simular problem, how would I test injector.This one is new to me. Gonna replace Plugs and coil pack first. Any help.

Pull the injector plugs off one by one and the engine should die a little if the injector is working or you can whip out the injectors and take them to a specialist injector workshop who can test them for you.

I'm talking about the square electrical plugs on the injectors them selves. remove the fuel rail and you'll see them.

i tried this today and the number 3 injector didnt make a difference to the running of the car whereas the other 3 cut the engine note down alot.
still geting it on a diag tester on saturday morning to confirm this.

To make double sure swap the dodgy injector to another cylinder and do the same check if the problem moves with the injector then its only the injector and not the loom.

new injector was around £90 iirc, well worth getting the others checked and ultrasonically cleaned.

Tried a new set of injectors today and after changing injectors misfire is still there, is there any history of clios with dodgy wiring loom to the injectors? would it be a good idea to take wiring out of coverings and check for any breaks or stripped wires or would i be wasting my time
also engine managment light flashed on today as the car was misfireing so gotit plugged in and came up with an unknown fault, but when doin the on-board diag check it came up once again with the letter 't' on the dash with - - - after it (t - - -) after searching on here it seem that this code means an injector fault,please correct me if im wrong???
any help would be much appriciated

does the misfire happen constantly??

could be worth doing a quick compression test to rule that out
check that the engine is sparking, (rest it against the engine way)
then at least you would know for certain that is injection related.

hi guys sory for jacking thread ive a misfire too wen its dark i can see a spark arching off one of the ht leads the one closest to gearbox surly that shouldnt happen anyone else had this problem

hi steve i wish mine was that simple, just sounds like u need some ht leads?
i have tried quite a lot now and still not to the bottom of it.

thanks for that i hope that al it is, mite be stupid but i used to ave a motor changed everything and still misfired in the end it was the cat. :S

well i have got a k-tec steath coming nxt week so when that goes on i wil be taking cat off aswell just to check the monolyth!!!!
last car i had a misfire on was a 106 gti and i lost £2500 on it in 9 months

no way that crazy i wont be buying french again gonna go jap or german hate to say, so many probs ive had with car in past six months:(. had my stealth fitted this week can still see it so not stealth fimk gonna hav go k tec get em ta sort it cos fiddling bout with it pain in arse cos the standard mounts shite pack it with sockets to raise it quick fix. have ya tried the 2 o2 sensors?? or changed coil pack

ye tried coil pack (genuine renault) not tried o2 sensors but got it on a emissions machine and it would pass emissions to a mot standard, which is why i didnt think it could be the cat, but im still goin to check nxt week any way
i think it could even benifit from an auto electrician to check it over but dont know how much they charge and bit skint at the minute.

have you changed ht leads?? i see earlier posts you said you hadnt, so when ya chaged plugs did any the leads have any splits cracks anything odd r they genuine renault ones jus trying to give ya options m8

thanks for all the info people, i have had the ht leads out and found a small crack/split in the end of the lead where it pushes onto the plug so going to order some renault ones tomorrow
i bloody hope this works as im sick to death now and just want to drive my car properly now the roads are getting dryer
