not exspecting a resolution here, but thought id post and ask you guys for advise anyway.

Recently ive noticed that when pressing in my horn / tooter for what ever reason my clio decides to blow a fuse?! After replacing, its only a couple of moments until it blows again! some may say ive got a bad earth!? however its only the horn fuse thats blowing, all others are fine! im not really one for driving around and blowing my horn at other motorists... however it would be nice to have my tooter back with out having to change a fuse each time i want to use it.

any ideas / suggestions ? has this happend to you?

Cheers in advanced,

James. :)

Advice also needed on why the hell does one of my lights keep blowing a fuse and then taking out all the lights on my dash?! Cant find the earth for it so whats going on?

Which light is it, front or rear? if its the rear could be that you have trapped walter thats cuasing your lights to short under braking?! The rear clusters are prone to collecting walter. only a 3 min job to check,

Rockport, does the horn actually make a noise before the fuse blows? Could be a faulty horn (short circuit) or the positive feed to the horn is shorting to earth somewhere. May even be a fault with the horn switch on the s/wheel? Assume the horn fitted is standard?

16V Clio, your problem sounds similar with the positive feed shorting to earth somewhere. Shorting is the only thing that will draw enough current to blow the fuse. Assume you have the correct ratings fitted for both bulbs and fuse?

Thanks for the suggestions Neil,

the horn does make a noise before it blows... your lucky to get 2 honks before it blows. i have even tried replacing the 20amp fuse --> 30. As far as i know the horn is standard mate.. and worked fine until a few months ago. if i was to replace the horn circuitery, any ideas where i would start?

thanks again,

James.

I agree its more likely a short circuit than the earth.
