uprating the speakers will only make it worse as more powerful ones will distort at a lower level. its the head unit thats your problem it doesnt have the power to drive the speakers at higher volumes.

ive got some Pioneer TS-Q131C renault fitment speakers in my dci, wern't much better than the standard ones and distorted at lower volumes but now they are running off a Renault Cabasse headunit they are much better.

  A special one.
I have the same problem but as my car has not been raped by boy racers and and am i old git i like things how they were from new so i could not fit a after market head unit unless there is another Renault one that can be used with the stalk by the steering wheel..

no that will be an update list, you need a tuner list, can use one from a clio, megane, laguna etc etc as long as its tunerlist (says on the bottom right hand corner of the face.

ones from other models may have different colour LED's under the buttons however

i was dissapointed with my stereo so went mad on it, i know its each to their own etc, but heres what i did
fli 600w 4 channel amp powering 2 sets of fli components
vibe cbr12 sub and amp (1000W)
replaced front door speakers wth fli 3way speakers and all running off a alpine headunit - it sounds amazing! bass is adjustable from headunit so its not always loud, but doing 80 on the motorway with the windows down, its still as clear as a bell...which is what i wanted.

I use alpine type Es i think they are and they sound pretty good and only something like £30 from halfords.
