speed camera detectors

  Abarth 500

what do you suggest as the best speed camera detector, i need one to pick up most cameras but especially especially especially fu**ing mobile camera vans  i live in the middle of cheif constable richard "dick head" brunstrom lala land, im sure most of you have heard of his one man hate campaign (pity me) i dont condon speeding atall but sitting infront of speed limit sings to catch one as u come in and out of zones on extremely safe zones with no accidents in years and years is taking the piss!, i have loads of stories about their stupidty by the way could start my won forum with it lol, infact anybody been up to north wales got any stories of their own  *deep breath*............. ok....any suggestions

ive got a snooper s4 with the s100 add on bit, ive been past 2 of these vans and it picked both of them up

Ive done cardiff-llandudno twice in my car and about 10times with my parents, and that dick has never caught me/us. Although I once spotted a van, and luckily i as stuck behind a slowcoach, that i had almost overtaken a few minutes ealier- if i had, i would probably have been banned!

But I know who u mean, hes always on Top gear and they all show their disgust!

Im looking at the Inforad detector (although technically its not a detector) - its a GPS-based unit that uses a database of known camera locations. Not sure how good it is - Im hoping for more feedback before I buy! And its only £80, thats why Im looking at it (cos Im skint).

I always thought that mobile vans use laser cameras anyway - and that if your detector picks up a laser signal that youve already been caught? (hence theyre not really that useful to have a detector that does laser as well as radar).

hhhmmmmm if they pick the laser up after u been caught then not that good, anyone else know, the vans are like fu**ing ants where i live, if someone paid me i go hunting for them, then put big yellow signs around the corner from them warning other drivers,

ive heard theres a free database you can d/l off the net and use in your sat nav, like a tom tom go or summat, and that tells u where cameras are and the datebase is up to date aswell, cheaper than 80 squid, but u already need a sat nav system first that supported, mine isnt :(

I got my first 3 points last october from a mobile fixed unit.. i promptly boughta bel 995 from ebay £150...

Since I bought it its picked up the tw*t in several locations approximately 6 times... and I joke you not, its probably saved me another 3-6 points.. which if you think of the increase in insurance + fines is hundreds of pounds... best £150 I ever spent on my car !! get one...

Ive got a Bel RX65 Pro. Seems to work fine here in Australia, though we dont have any fixed cameras here in WA that I know of. Picks up all the necessary ones here. K, Ka and Laser. X band goes off a bit, but Im not sure what that is. I got mine off eBay from the US. Delivered to my door for Aus$350. Half the price of what they cost in the shops here.

cheers

Road angel 2 or originB both pick up laser sites. Make sure you mount them so it has best possible chance of picking up laser, i.e low down but looking over the wipers, to get front and rear protection.

Like has been said though laser is the one people want to know about the most but is also the hardest to detect, so still keep your eye out even after you get a detector.

I would have gone for the B2 but as I needed at the time to swap between cars alot I went for the RA 2. Cant go wrong with either IMO.

My tomtom with the speed camera database installed saved 8 of us from a scamera van on the A46 the other week :D

Camera vans use lazer guns which cannot be picked up in the clio, via detector as the rays cannot pass through the windsceen!

There is a way around but I dont think I will be allowed to post the answer as its illegal!!

I just got 3 points a month ago from a mobile camera van near Edinburgh. My road angel 2 didn’t go off AT ALL!! It’s mounted above my just above the line of the wipers so must have had line of sight. It then warned me of one yesterday though when I was well within the limit anyway. Is there anything more reliable I can get that will go off 100% of the time?

its legal got one in my car had it for about 1 1/2 years.

If you want one look on ebay!!!! about £280

Only picks up cameras that are working so if you drive passed a camera and theirs no warning the camera is not active!!!!!

ssoooo what the illegal thing then lol, u can just inform us of it, and of course add that u dont agree with doing it ;) lol or pm me :p
