Speedgun or not

Driving on the M4 at about 80mph saw a cop on the hard shoulder he was using a long rectangle shape thing on top of his roof pointing at the oncoming traffic, is this a speed gun, only have 3 points left there was no FLASH.

If it was he would have had to have pulled you over at the time of the offence. 80mph is nothing they would be looking for the 90mph+ people

Wait a sec, are you saying that the Speed Guns the cops use arent tied into a FPN notice, therefore they dont need to chase you down?

Not sure what you mean but Police choose who to chase after when using mobile cameras

The police local to me have these speedcameras on theyre roofs. I think it just measures your speed and if they want you they pull you over.
