Speedo goes off and on

Hi,

I have a clio 172 cup, 53 reg.

The speedo will randomly drop to 0 for a while and then comes back on, and will go off again.
Any ideas to what is causing this?

Also, mileage and MPG, average speed etc keeps resetting themselves if the car has been turned off for a longer period of time (eg. over 6 hours). Sometimes the MPG and average speed will read silly things such as 2mph average speed, and 5 MPG.

Please can anybody help

sounds like the same problem i had i replaced the speedo sensor (at back of gearbox) you can see it from the top, also i found that the connector block that goes into the speedo sensor had started to go green/rusty

Renowned for loose connections at the rear of the dials - this is a dash off job to check though.

The trip resetting is possibly a battery issue - get that tested and go from there.
