Speedo Problem

My speedo keeps going up and down when I am driving at normal speeds, then all of a sudden it goes back to my actual speed. This sounds daft but is they are problem.

I really could do with advice as I am going on a 400 mile round trip and dont want to break down.

I had this problem with my speedo on my 5 turbo and it was a diode apparently. Dont think they are like that in the Cup tho...

No mate I have a little citroen ax for running around in (work etc). Can you tell me the cost of this (what is a diode?)

I am going to the Liverpool match at the weekend and dont want the Cup to be nicked

its fine mate - my chum had a sunny GTIR and that did it all the time - its simply just a loose wire into teh speedo sensor - cheal to get fixed but id take it to a garage if you dont know how - can be tricky! ure car certainly wont break down!

there is a mod for new clio instrument panels if that doesnt cure it then probably the instrument panel itself is faulty.take it to your dealer to have it checked.

Down the back of the engine you can see the speedo cabl egoing into a pod with about four other cables.There is a shinny metalic cover on top.Remove this and push down on all the wires,its probably just loose.Its all electrically linked so needs to be in place to help the rest of your gadgets to work,Trip comp and stuff...Hope this helps and itll still drive ok.
