speedo stopped working.

The Speedo has stopped on my T Reg 1.4 8v Clio. It would go all retarded up and down with me changing speed and then finally stopped all together!!
I know its not a 'Sport' Model, but i'm sure there's some knowledgeable guys and gals here who may know of the cause(s).

I'm not knowledgable with clios but when this happened on my fiesta (crazy woble then nothing) it turned out to be speedo cable related.
mine had frayed/rotted and disconnected. once replaced all was well.

maybe clios have something similar? I'd defo start there though.

if not could be the speed sensor on the gearbox as I really can't imagine these 2 cars being worlds apart on the basics.

as above check the cable first you should be able to see if its knackered if not its the sensor im havin the same prob

Were sure if the had a cable or a Electronic sender unit at all.
