speedo

I have meantion this before but wanted to get it sorted out tomorrow. my speedo bounces on hard throttle and even worse at 70mph. is this likely to be the speedo sensor on the gearbox. if so how much and easy would it be to fix.

reason i ask is it is covered by the warranty, i think, but i just changed the thermostat as it was easier than contacting the warranty company and jumping through hoops

btw the car is a ph2 172
