Splitter or no splitter?

  S4 Avant
Right, some of you may know that I bought my car crash damaged, and have been having it repaired for the past month. Basicly the guys asked me to come over tomorrow morning, to see what i want doing with the body.

It's got a k-tec body kit on, and i have a parental figure on my back saying get rid of the front splitter because of the ground clearance. Only thing about taking the front splitter off, is that it would look incomplete, and would need the other valances coming off, but to do that, i need to buy a new exhaust. This is going to cost more than i have budgeted for, and i can't really afford it.

So the question is, do i just leave the body kit on, and get bumpers resprayed as they are, or do i take off the front splitter to help with ground clearance and leave it looking unfinished?

personally i would try and flog the lot and put it back to standard.

failing that, leave it as it is, the front looks prob the best part of the body kit

I would say leave it on for now, doesn't look to bad, and then when you can afford to remove the whole kit get a carbon front spoiler.

yeah, wouldnt really be able to sell the parts if i were to take them off, cus they arent in the best condition after the last t**t crashed it. I will hopefully take it back to stock one day, just when i can afford it

Stick with it for now
Keep the kit complete, I'm not a fan but looks OK
its only the back I like the least.

I would be embarrased (sp) to drive round with that kit on, but thats just my opinion, Why throw good money after bad getting the bumpers resprayed when you want to return it to stock?.
Smoke around in it as is for the time being until you can find some stock inferno bumpers to replace them with.

You will face a MASSIVE bodyshop bill if you try and return it to standard...

I bet the kit has been bonded on and you will not get it off without lots of cutting/grinding and a lot of filler work...

Not a fan, but if you take just the front splitter off it's gonna look a shed load worse, either take it all off or leave it as is.

Get some stickers made up saying something like; "Yes my car does looks silly".

I'd try to take the splitter off if it were mine. It'd look fine from directly infront then.

i'd leave it, never really been a fan of kitted 182's but think yours suits it because of the wheels/exhaust ect...

i like it :)

two tone, sweeeeet

hey? Glasses needed?

right, just been up, splitters staying on, due to the cost of removing the whole lot

got new brake discs on it, drive shafts sorted, and the air intake is being relocated... god knows what possesed the last guy to have a V6 IK with the intake pipe running down the back of the radiator, waiting to suck up any shallow puddles on the road.

I appreciate that the body kit is different to most peoples tastes on here, but it really doesnt look that bad in the metal/fibreglass. It'll do until i can afford to have it the way i want it, get a nice carbon splitter on the front and some recaros.

anyone taking serious offence to the kit though is quite welcome to donate money to my cause;)

Quite like it, wouldnt have oen myself, but yeah, not bad for a kitted 182. def keep the front splitter, would look wrong without. Oh and who cares about ground clearence? just avoid speed bumps ;)

haha, dont have paypal, but cheques can be made payable to D Brownsey :rasp:

Ground clearance wouldnt be a problem if my lane didnt have a speed bump to get over :dapprove:

haha yeah i know what you're saying, i am only 19 at the moment, and hate being associated with boy racers. So really, as i grow older id like to save up to get it taken back to stock, body kits never been my thing really.

Tasteful mods is where i want to head, so 182 anthracite alloys, carbon splitter, recaros, no body kit, plain ss exhaust, job done

Sounds good to me! Guess you'll just have to live with that kit for now, I don't know what possessed anyone to do that to it :S

I've seen far worse but it doesn't look good.
