Splitting tyres from alloys, is it easily done

  Golf R soon...
How easy is it too split alloys from there tyres?

Basically I should have a new set of trophy alloys coming my way and I need to split my original 182 alloys from the tyres and put trophy wheels on.

Any help/advice/guidance would be greatly appreciated, as always :)

I know somewhere who'll do it for you fella. I'd offer to do it myself but i hate doing low pro's and knowing my luck I'd manage to mark your wheels even though I've not damaged any of mine yet.

Cool!

What kind of price?

I would probably need the wheels taking off, 182 alloys split from tyres, trophy's put on then wheels put back on car.

Quite a job

Nah it's not, as for price I'd have to give them a call. Let me know when you are looking at doing it and I'll have a word.

Well if I pick the alloys up this weekend then next weekend would be great!

On something with a high/flexible sidewall It's possible but a stiff low pro tyre is a pain even with the right equipment. Doesnt change the fact he'd still need them balanced even if it was possible to remove and refit them himself.

My local gareg used to do it for a fiver a wheel, now i've found somewhere that does it for free

they would jack ur car up and take the wheel off, split it, fit the tyre to the new rim, balance it and put it back on ur car for a fiver? fook me they must have been desperate for work! and who can u get to do that for free?
