took a tonne of pics today, before the car goes into the bodyshop. mainly so ive got evidence of what its like, how things are fitted etc. as the last two bodyshops have done sh!t jobs, meaning ive now got to have a half car respray to fix their crap shoddy work.

its all good though, as ive managed to swing a mint discount at the best bodyshop around ere, as he took sympathy on the crap work thats been done to it.

before anyone comments, i know it needs tyre gel and stuff..

and a quick one of the carbon for all the haters lol

car goes in on the 22nd for 5 days, and fingers crossed comes out on Friday night of the FCS weekend. which gives me exactly one day to carefully wax all the new paint lol

got some speedline decals on order to take off the plainess, but im finding it almost impossible to find some replacements that i a) like and b) can afford

dont think they wheels are too bad, get them done in anthracite and i reckon they will look the danglies

Make sure you speak to your paint guy as most places say to wait between 30-90 days before sealing or waxing new piant. You can polish it as long as the polishes dont contain waxes or sealants.

i know its a no no mate but one of the best things you can do before that goes to the b/shop is stay well well away from any silicone based products dash cleaners tyre black etc and wash the car with a mild solution of washin up liquid before you go, they should degrease it but at least you will have made a start for them otherwise the paint will be riddled with 'fish eyes'

this bodyshop is a 'proper' bodyshop and he has already mentioned no silicone products to go on the car when it was booked in, and said that silicone products are banned from the workshop as they ruin the finish on the car.

last time i went down he let me view the quality of the cars hes currently working on which consisted of two ferraris, an escalade, and 8 cadburys creme egg bubbles

thanks for the tips tho on washing it with fairy liquid i shall deffo get it done before it goes down.

rich - i was planning on using some p21s to just wax the new paintwork. haven't actually discussed this with them yet though

yes mate, ever heard of Alpha tyres in Fenton (v cheap and reliable) think the bloke from there had his G40 Polo done by them, if he did it was a cracking job and arrow straight finish. Dont get up there much nowadays, moved to Portsmouth cos Rentech opened up.......

me too, hope its done for fcs too! got a few more things i need to fix before then, shes going through a bit of a plain transition phase at the mo. Lets just say my bank balance is well and truly empty this month

tell me about it fella over the last few weeks ive bought new car mats (justmatz group buy), decat, mk2 ph2 sidestrips and 2.0ltr badges, lowered it on apex's, oil change, oil filter change, and 4 new tyres today.
still want to colourcode the strips and a few other thngs but cant afford it now

yeah i was surprised at what a diff it makes! i was gonna have the renault diamond removed at the same time, but decided against it at the last minute, kinda glad really cos the bodyshop were crap and would've prob fecked the rear end.

Garf - i think its a hard month for everyone! you could always have a bash at the sidestrips yourself, i did mine myself and then stupidly decided to take it the bodyshop to have it done 'properly' and the finish isnt as good as the one i had before! at the mo its the perfect weather for spraying as its nice and warm, paint costs around 30 quid with all materials and stuff, and if you want any help or hinters i'm only the other end of a pm i'll try to find you at FCS as i want a good nose round your car and its new mods from what i've seen looks mint
