Spraying side repeaters

  Renault Clio
I'm interested in making my car more stealth and I want to spray the side repeaters black. I just have a few of questions though.

1. Is it legal?
2. What paint do I need? Someone said that they sprayed theirs with black enamel paint. If I get that from Halfords will it stay on? Do I have to prepare the lights before spraying them and do I have to lacquer them afterwards?
3. Will you still see the orange flashing light afterwards?
4. Are they easy to spray? I don't want to do it if I'm going to get drip marks everywhere.

This is what I want to achieve...

Thanks in advance!

I'd just buy smoked ones tbh, save all the messing about & making them look cheap.

As long as the bulb flashes orange & it can be seen through the lense you'll be ok.

The ones in those pictures don't look cheap though :S

That's what I mean, will the orange light be able to be seen if I spray them black?

Smoked aren't black are they? I thought they were like a grey. I'd like black.

To spray them is about £4 isn't it for the paint? And to buy them is about £10-15? I'm meant to be saving :p

I sprayed mine black, just used a couple of coats of gloss black hycoat. Go easy with the spraying and when it looks wet stop spraying!

So you just need the spray? No lacquer and you don't need to do anything to them before spraying? Can you still see the flashing orange light?

If you want to do it properly you would ideally use tint spray. I just used a quick couple of layesr of gloss black while i was waiting for other things to dry.

And it's stayed on? Even after washing the car and everything?

Id use a proper light tinting spray think savage make it, gives a good laquered finish and wont look dotty as opposed to aerosol paint.

The savage paint when being sprayed looks alot more watered dont like a mist rather than a spray

That paint is nearly as much as it costs to buy them so I might as well just buy them. I'll get them next time I get paid. Thanks for the help.
