Spraying wing mirror cover

Hey people, my o/s/f mirror cover has got a scrape on it, so i wanna respray it. How do i get it off, and has anyone got any tips on spraying it?

How serious is the scrape? IT may be easier/cheaper to get a smart company to touch up the paintwork?
May be a good idea to get a pic up so some of the paint/spray gurus can have a look at it...

To get the cover off, pop the mirror glass out (it just clips in) and the you'll see the lugs for the cover. Just prise them off with a screwdriver. I don't think there's any screws from memory.
