Spring Rates - Standard vs. Aftermarket

  M3
Not sure if its been mentioned but the spring rates for a divorced rear spring and a true coilover are totally different due to the position of the springs and damper. It is called the motion ratio. Im not exactly sure what the motion ratio is for the clio 172 182 but ive heard its roughly 2/1 ratio for a divorced set up. For a true coilover it is a 1/1 ratio. So for instance you would need double the spring rate in a divorced set up compared to a true coilover. Again sorry if this has been mentioned.
