Probably been asked 100 times but ive failed to find what i what after searching.

I have the guide about changing rear shocks but how do you change the springs? Do you do them one at a time? Whats holding them in etc?

Also is there a guide about changing front springs and shocks?

Cheers

Nothings holding them in mate, well bar a top and bottom spring locator

Jack the rear end of the car up high
Place jack under one of the wheel hubs
Remove both Shocks
Slowly lower rear beam via jack under wheel hub
Old springs will just fall out.

Place in new springs
Jack rear beam back up slowly making sure the top and bottom locators are securing the springs
Replace rear shocks

Done and dusted in 30 mins mate

Hope this helps

Cheers for that mate, just want I needed! :)

Give that a go at the weekend once I get a wheel brace!!! Is it ok to just use the 1 jack for both hubs? that will hold it ok?

Fronts as easy? If not how much could you do them for if I come over to yours! :p

£50 and I will do fronts and rears mate

Fronts are a bit trickier as the strut top nuts are regulary a b**ch to loosen and you will need spring compressors (£25ish) if you are just replacing the springs

Fronts:

Loosen wheel nuts
Pop bonnet and use a good quality 7mm (iirc) allen key and 21mm swan neck spanner to loosen strut tops (do not remove at this point)
Jack front end up and support on axle stands
Remove wheels
Remove 2 x 18mm nuts fixing the bottom of the struts to the hub
Remove the top strut nut and ease the shock out
Spring compressor on each side of the spring and tighten to compress spring
Once any pressure has been taken up by spring compressors remove retaining nut and complete top mount assembly
Slip off old spring.

Replace in the reverse order.
Depending on vehicle milage you may want to consider (I would what ever the milage) replacing the complete top mount kit for circa £10 a side)

Fronts is approx 1hr start to finish
