springs

  Clio MK 4
i want to lower my car 40mm. Using standard shocks.

Now i want a decent drop like apex springs give you but dont want them as i heard lots of bad things on here that they ruin the ride and its so uncomfortable.

I know sportlines have loads of praise on here but dont seem to lower much.

Is there another make that gives a good drop but are not as bad quality as apex.

i've fitted sportlines to my clio. they are very good but your quite right, they dont lower it by the 55mm or whatever it is they advertise.

There's a few, spax, Pi, k-tec...you get what you pay for really though. Eibach are pricey for a reason and on standard shocks I wouldn't be looking for a massive drop anyway.

its a shame about the rear drop on sportlines but i cant live with my apexs

so apart from eibach springs the rest may lower the car nicely but are all pretty poor in regards to handling and comfort.

Just to throw a spanner in the works, i bought my 172 with Apex springs already fitted and its running 16" rims and i don't think its that bad at all and ride height is spot on.

But then again i have had several lowered cars in the past when the ride has been much harsher, so maybe i have just built up a tolerance to a bumpy ride! but i went to germany in it with two passengers last month and i had no complaints about the ride......

i just lowerd mine today by 35 mm. i think it was just enough as i kept the standard shocks so didnt want to go too low but you can tell that it is slightly lower and although the ride is stiifer and does corners quite nicely, it can still go over pot holes and speed bumps with out me having to go to hospital for back surgery.
