Aux belt service kit required... you can get away with just changing the belt IF, upon inspection, the bearings in the tensioner and idler feel fine and aren't noisey but that's not doing the job properly.

A belt from an autofactors will set you back around £15-18 and enjoy fitting it... you lucky sod, the fun you will have!

Squeaking belts are not normal... do you think they came out of the showrooms like this? My Scenic workbus used to do it aswell then I replaced the belt run and guess what? It doesn't do it anymore at all; cold, warm, wet or dry.

James, give the belt a tug from the drivers wheel arch and see if the tensioner is moving as i've seen a few of them seize up.

had a few cars do this, usually caused by the battery being weak and the alternator having extra strain on it, a change of battery usually cures it. however also worth checking the tensioner on the belt
