Hi guys, have an issue with my airbags, been told by my mechanic to get a second hand squib and an airbag ecu module and he can sort the problem, question is can I get a squib and airbag module off a standard clio as long as it’s the same year?? And do they have to be off the same car? I’m not mechanically minded so it’s not something I’m clued up on 🥴 any help would be grateful 🤙🏻

I believe the squib is specific to the sports, but someone may well correct me if I'm wrong as I'm not 100% sure.
Airbag ECUs are the same across the Clio 2 range, just coded for each car depending on the airbag config of each model, but otherwise interchangeable, will just mean if you take it from a car without seat airbags, your seat airbags won't work, but no lights on the dash.

What's the actual issue by the way? Sounds like your mechanic is just throwing parts at the problem rather than actually diagnosing the issue, unless you're very very unlucky and happen to have 2 separate parts causing a fault.

To be honest mate I’m not 100% sure on what the issue is 😏 airbag lights are on, I managed to get a second hand airbag ecu which he tried to configure to my car which didn’t work, that’s when he said it’s probably best getting a squib and airbag ecu from the same car. Like I say I’m not mechanically minded so I’m just having to take his word on what he’s telling me. He is a Renault specialist so I don’t think he’s trying to have my pants down 🤣 and all other work he’s done has been spot on
