SRP

having investigated my meggy paintwork, no surprise there are swirls here and there, is SRP a good shout for initial paint correction?

I dont have a PC but was planning in having a chat with alan to get something arranged at some point, but wondered if manual labour with SRP would be a shout?

SRP is very mild, will fill and hide more defects than it removes. Will clean up paint nicely but do little in the form of paint correction.

Any sort of swirl removal will need lots of elbow grease and something a bit more potent.

BTW R/Sport 175 Meggy ? Pics ? I am really tempted as one for a daily hack now and a 106/306 track car toy.

Megs Scratch X, the Carlack Hand Polish Bundle or Menzerna PO91L Intensive Polish will all do the trick by hand but require lots of elbow grease, after a panel or two you will be cursing !

Try and do a panel a day after work or something, try and do it in one hit and you will regret it big style !!!!

Rich if you can wait until September got a nice new Twingo if you want to swap for the 182 for a year, 50 mpg?!?

Didn't think so.....:boring:

  A well built VW
Ive used the Menzerna to good effect on a Honda civic might be worth a shout to try a few panels and see how it goes

Ha worth a squirt. If I am forced to sell the 172 now though I WILL be buying a 182, V6, Elise or new Scirroco in time to come...going from 172 bhp to 80 bhp is NOT cool...:(

I don't know what to do :(

DCi 175 and a Pug Track Car when I can afford it.
Elise and the 306 still as a daily drive
Get a tidy 306 Rallye/106 GTi, spend money on making it mint and still keep my 306.
Just keep the 182 and 306 lol

Run the 182 as a daily car and build a track **** ? eek

Tough call mate, personally I think keeping the 182 and not driving it is a waste, might as well get a 1.2 and keep it in good nick if you want a concours car.

I would get a cheap but fun daily driver, even something like a Focus diesel would be ok, then either get the Elise or keep the 182 as a track car.

If I had enough money and space I would keep the 172 once I get a company lawnmower, make it absolutely mint (front end respray, few little mods) and keep that for a track toy/ weekend cruiser.

Think I have the same problem as you Rich in that once my car is freshly detailed I want to keep it that way, but once I get in and put my foot down I'm reminded what the car is for and how much bloody fun it is.

Car OCD is quite a b**ch thing to have though, even got annoyed to myself the other day when my mate was eating some crisps in it...just have to try and put things in perspective I guess!

The 306 is a good handling car, surprisingly fun to drive just needs more go go ! Since changing the fronts it has lost it's comedy understeer though ...

I would love to track the 182 but know I would bin it. Was discussing it the other weekend with some mates, I know what I am like when I get in a kart, either going well or chrashing I have no middle ground !

My OCD is going I nearly bought a really tatty 306 Rallye last weekend, it was only when my painter could not guarantee he could fix a rust/reaction/bubbling type affair on a different car in the same location on the one I viewed that I decided no. I am changing !!! lol

Haha, I am trying to reduce mine, hopefully if I get a car thats not mine it won't be so bad. I think the thing is that when you get a car you love it so much you just want it in as good as condition it can be, but each time you get it in better condition you never want it to get worse in the same was as you never want to downgrade your car, or anything you care about.

Having said that I can see myself being known as "the guy with the shiny Twingo" come September...not a name I really want!!

I know what you mean - Buying the 182 new was probably the worst thing I could have done tbh ! I kind of wish I hadn't now ...

lol @ the latter.
